Pro-active measures for police safety against covid19 in Osmanabad

There has been no covid19 infection among Police personnel in the district. Osmanabad shares inter-district borders with Solapur, Ahmed Nagar and inter-state borders with Kalaburagi, Bidar (both Karnataka) which have seen substantial number of cases since Lockdown 1.0. On the other hand, Osmanabad was in Green zone, only one of the six districts in Maharashtra, until Lockdown 4.0. Cases started appearing only after lockdown relaxed due to persons coming from big cities who were already infected.

To ensure that no police person is affected by covid19, pro-active measures were taken right from the start that include the following: Separate dedicated helpline number for police and their families for any kind of emergency help during lockdown including home delivery and medical emergency. Dedicated manpower was deputed to attend to these calls. Separate vehicle and emergency response team to cater to any urgent medical help for police personnel and their family; ready with PPE kit While border sealing and other bandobast measures were in progress, in parallel kept a special team to ensure that all important safety equipment purchases happen immediately including masks, PPE kit, face shields, sanitizer, disinfectant, etc. Two drones were bought immediately for surveillance and assistance in bandobast. Glucon-D packets, Vitamin-C strips and odomos were distributed to all personnel to boost immunity and fight against heat and mosquito. Youth volunteers-based force of Anti-corona Corps with around 10 persons from each village were activated by Osmanabad police in each village to supplement the police force. This helped in sharing the workload of police with these volunteers in watching borders, monitoring quarantined people, awareness measures, etc. Around 8000 Anti-corona Corps are supplementing 2000 strong police force. This helped in lowering the mental stress of police personnel. Arsenic Albumin boost immunity was distributed to all police personnel after receiving it from head office. A dedicated 40 room facility with single room accommodation for each police personnel with attached toilet-bathroom has been reserved for quarantining police personnel suspected of infection.
